- Volunteer Patient Navigators
Opportunity Description:
Many patients and their families require access to advocacy and information services when diagnosed with cancer. Campaigning for Cancer is looking for caring individuals to share their time as Volunteer Patient Navigators to help cancer patients, and their families, navigate their journey and create awareness about the services offered by Campaigning for Cancer in treatment facilities (Doctor’s practices or state hospitals and clinics)
Location: Anywhere in SA
Estimated Time: 2 hours per week
- Copy writers, Editors and Translators
Opportunity Description:
Campaigning for Cancer is looking for volunteer editors to help us with editing educational and promotional material. We also require the services of various translators that can aid us in translating our educational material. The ideal candidate would be a writer, journalist or public relations professional or any language buff.
Location: Virtual – Anywhere in SA

- Grant Guru
Opportunity Description:
Do you like finding funding resources, writing grants, and making an impact? Campaigning for Cancer needs someone to help find opportunities and write grants so we can continue to make an impact in the lives of people affected by cancer. Some experience, education and prior success securing funding would be great. This opportunity would allow you to work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors. This individual should have strong writing skills, the ability to follow detailed instructions when those are specified by funders, the ability to work independently and creatively when little direction is provided by funders, strong computer skills, and the capacity to work quickly. Following through on deadlines a must!
Location: A majority of the work could be done virtually, with some required meetings at Campaigning for Cancer and donors.
Estimated Time: Capacity to work on 4-6 grants per year on a generally flexible schedule.
- A Voice on the Other End of the Line
Opportunity Description:
Campaigning for Cancer is looking for caring individuals to share their voice and time as a Case Navigator. You will be required to make “check-in” phone calls to patients whose cases Campaigning for Cancer is or has been managing.
Location: Bloemfontein at Campaigning for Cancer’s office
Estimated Time: 3 hours per week
- Volunteer Fundraisers
Opportunity Description:
Campaigning for Cancer needs help with fundraising in any capacity that you can think of. Volunteers can support us with assistance with our special events and other fundraising efforts. If you can also assist with contacting companies, organising small fundraising events on your own and assisting us to raise funds in any way possible, we could really use your support.
Fundraising ideas are unlimited: car washes, marathon races, bake sales, requesting friends to give donations in place of gifts for birthdays or other special occasions – Campaigning for Cancer greatly appreciates any money that you can raise on our behalf.

- Newsletter Editor
Opportunity Description:
We are looking for someone with a writing/journalism/communications background to manage our weekly newsletter. Content includes information about advocacy issues affecting patients, advice about a patient’s cancer journey and accessing treatment, coming events, fund raisers, volunteering opportunities, and so on, and of course stories about patients and their cancer journey.
Location: Virtual – Anywhere in SA
Estimated Time: 1 newsletter per quarter
- Administration Army
Opportunity Description:
We are looking for volunteers to help us with data entry, collating evaluation results, preparing materials for events, copying, preparing mailings, completing inventory and filing. The fight against cancer isn’t waged without administration.
Location: Virtual and Johannesburg North
Estimated Time: 5 -10 hours a week and project based
- Data Entry Super Heroes
Opportunity Description:
Help with updating stakeholder, member and donor databases, collating RSVPs to an excel sheet, in-putting call-centre caller information and uploading email addresses into the newsletter account. Managing surveys and survey data input. Also help with Mailchimp and Google docs.

- Social Media Extraordinaire
Opportunity Description:
We need a Social Media Relations Coordinator (SMRC) to garner more attention for the fight against cancer. We are looking for a volunteer who will be involved with campaign initiatives to generate buzz and online awareness about access to treatment issues faced by patients. This volunteer will work directly under the supervision of our CEO and be responsible for developing relationships with bloggers and other social media users to promote newsworthy stories, press releases and other types of content about our work on social media sites. Understanding the dynamics of the blogosphere and being able to navigate the space comfortably is crucial.
Location: Virtual – Anywhere in SA
